I tired the El Gato 60 HD i was disappointed how many times it didn't work you have to unplug and plug everything back at times I also lost my 4K res while playing so i returned it.
I use this with OBS and it works perfect i am not sure how others are having problems maybe they don't have experience with OBS. That is the only con i have is that if you cant or are fairly new to OBS you might have a ruff time. You can get the hang of it pretty easy with OBS if you have any question you want to ask just swing by my Mixer stream: LooneyFuego.
Not for the faint of heart. Took about 4 hours of tweaking settings. But once setup its much more stable than elgato. I run stream labs and audio, video all are really good quality. Quick tip, extend your monitor and run obs on project full screen to the second monitor which is the ripsaw. That way games can fully utilize the frame rate refresh of your primart monitor.
Two units, no audio passthrough to PC. The only way to hear what I'm capturing is by plugging in headphones directly to the Ripsaw HD. On the old Ripsaw you could output the audio to the desktop then capture the desktop audio while also listening through your default device. It required some fiddling about with the connection settings but it worked. It appears the Ripsaw HD has removed this workaround along with any ability to fiddle with video settings at all because the workaround doesn't get you audio any more.
Long story short, no audio pass through even if you output to the desktop. Guess I'll be waiting for someone to figure out a new workaround before this thing will be useful. I bought this device because I wanted to display my Nintendo Switch on my iMac I haven't used it to stream per se, but I have connected it to my Nintendo dock so that the iMac screen acts as the display. Set up is totally easy. Yes, it's expensive to get just for streaming to your iMac but it beats buying another monitor even if the monitor costs less than this device as it keeps the clutter down.
I'm happy with the video quality on the iMac's And if I want to stream at some point in the future I can use this device to do it. It's important to use a certified high-speed USB 3. I connected the pass-through output to a SmallHD Focus 7 monitor and everything worked like a charm. No drivers, no software, just plug and play. Just mind that USB 3. I had initially bought the regular HD60 Pro capture card and prepared for war. Setting it up to work with console streaming seemed to entail hours of complicated setup.
As I waited for it to ship I came across an article about capture cards where it marked the 4k60 Pro as a seamless experience when connecting to consoles like PS4 and Switch. I tried to find some guide on how the 4k is setup but couldn't find much which seemed strange. I decided to wing it and canceled my HD60 Pro and opted for the 4k capture card. Installing it into the PC was very easy.
Once I had everything plugged in and the software downloaded. I powered on my connected Nintendo Switch and bam. It worked flawlessly and instantly. Beautiful perfect streaming, no audio issues, no connecting issues. It just worked instantly.
I immediately started up OBS Studio to sync my capture card and wow. Again it was picked up immediately and worked with a click of a button.
I had my brother and friend jump into my Twitch stream and they immediately commented on how good the quality was. I was very impressed by how seamless the setup was. I have yet to try it on PS4 and don't have plans for any 4k streaming for sometime but I can confirm the Nintendo Switch at p was working as good as it gets.

It gets to a point where the button on the front flashes red slowly but touching it does nothing. I tried using the 4k capture software connecting to the PC with the USB-C cable this time, but it couldn't find the device.
It then went into a loop of booting up with the blue light and crashing, repeating this sequence over and over. Tried a different SD card, different cables, a different video source but no recordings and still couldn't be found by the PC. I never saw any output from the passthrough either. The most it did was create the elgato folder and settings. Update: I got the Cloner Alliance Pro instead. Not only did it work perfectly, it was significantly cheaper and came with a remote control which makes it much more usable than the elgato, especially for changing settings.
I ended up trying 2 of these and neither worked at all. The first one had no power going to the unit so replaced it for another. The second card had power but its signal was 2 weak to bit it up. I thought maybe it was an issue somewhere else in my set up so I tried it on 3 different screens, my Series X and S, tried 4 different combinations of power leads and plugs and 4 different high-quality HDMI cables.
Nothing made a difference. I was always staring at a black screen. I also, tried connecting it directly to my PC, instead of using it in standalone mode, and the PC detected it was there but couldn't find a picture either. Save your money. This isn't the high-end capture card the price suggests. Having been a loyal Hauppauge customer for years, my PVR2 capture card was finally failing and I decided to take the plunge and go with Elgato after hearing so many amazing things about them.
Absolutely nothing worked. I feared it may be a communication issue with my PS5 of some sort, so I tried hooking up the Elgato to the PS4 - Exactly the same problem. No Passthrough signal.
As a last ditch attempt, I even tried a different brand of TV - no change. So much for my dive into the world of Elgato. After 24 hours of pulling my hair out trying to get it to work, I've now sent it back for a refund and will be buying another Hauppauge capture card instead.
